Dredging

Seawalls built along the shoreline, are important hydraulic structures to withstand waves, tides or surges for coastal protection. Breakwaters restore and protect shorelines by interrupting wave energy, and allowing sand to accumulate along the coast.
Compared with tranditonal rock fill, durable polypropylene geotextile tubes with on-site fill cut costs by reducing material outsourcing and transportation.

Case Study

Project: Chongqing Chansheng River Dredging

Lcation: Chongqing, China

The changsheng river locates at Chongqing district, with a basin area of 83.4km2 and a river length of 25.2km. The river is running has been seriously polluted for a long time, with such problems as eutrophication of water bodies, damage of sewage pipes, insufficient water sources and destruction of embankments, etc., resulting in the poor ecological environment of the changsheng river and poor flood control ability. In 2018, local government decided to use geotextile tubes to dredg the river.
The project started in October 2018 and last until December 2018. The total amount of silt treated in the river course is about 15,000 cubic meters (90% water content). Honghuan geotube used in the project is 6.85 meters wide and 30 meters long.
As a technology to simplify the process of sludge dewatering, the dewatering system of geotube has been gradually popularized.
First, the sludge is treated with flocculant and then filled into the geotube. The deposited sludge will remain in the tube and water will seep out from the pores of the tube. This process is repeated until the geotextile tube reaches the maximum height.
